Welcome to Metacolor
American Paratroopers in Southern Vietnam, 1965
This photo was taken in the jungle area of Ben Cat, South Vietnam, Sept. 25, 1965 by french photographer Henry Huet. The soldiers in the photo are paratroopers of the U.S. 2nd Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade.
The guns being carried by the soldiers are M-16’s. Although I would have preferred to color the stocks of the gun brown, the stocks were in fact black as seen in this photo.
The colorizing of the water was rather tricky to achieve. Generally a combination of blue and green mixed with shades of brown does the trick when it comes to water, but Vietnamese water is a bit different. Vietnamese river water tends to have more of a yellowish-brown with very subtle undertones of blue and green throughout.
Below is the full size black and white original photo as well as my full size colorization.
