Black and White Photo Of Betty White Colorized

I stepped outside the norm on this one. I began colorizing this old black and white photo of Betty White and it was just looking very..standard. Nothing wrong with that of course and I’m extremely happy with my current work, but I like to always be progressing and moving forward.  so I decided to go with Ecto-Cooler(remember that?) background and a purple color for the blouse to make the photo really pop.

I used a light bit of purple shading under and at the tips of the eyelids with a small layer of pink. The mesh scarf-type thing was easy enough. I lowered the opacity on my background in that area and used a mask and ran over it with a cream color.

For Betty’s eyes I used a dark blue and then used a light bluish-white and used a Vivid Light blending mode and filled in the area just around the pupil to give the photo depth.

The full size black and white photo along with my colorization are below. Feel free to share this blog post on your social network of choice or leave a comment in the comment section below.
