Colorization of Stanley Kubricks “Cigarman”

 stanley-kubrick-cigarman colorization side by side

This photo is one of the many photos that Stanley Kubrick photographed in New York . I have always been a fan of Stanley Kubrick‘s work but I primarily chose this photo for the reflection and the depth of the objects in the reflection.

I had to break this colorization into three separate parts to complete it. The subject and foreground, inside the restaurant and the background and finally the reflections in the glass window.

I have been into colorizing black and white photos with reflections in them lately and this photo had several layers of depth to the reflection in the glass. The hard part about colorizing reflected images is getting the opacity correct and I am pleased with how this photo turned out.

The full size black and white photo is below as well as my full size colorization. Feel free to share this post on your social network of choice as well leave any comments or questions in the comment section below.
