Colorization of a Young, Dapper Muhammad Ali

Colorization of a black and white photo of a dapper Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali (Born  Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.) is considered to be among the greatest heavyweight boxers in history. His matches were highly entertaining and full of loud mouthed trash-talking that he more often than not, backed up. Being a boxer myself, I have always been a huge fan of Muhammad Ali’s flashy style, more specifically, the Rope-A-Dope.

This colorization was easy as far as Muhammad Ali went, but the city in the background was a bit tougher. It can be difficult and tedious colorizing buildings, I use different shades of brown and grays to get different tones in the buildings and then go back with other colors for the trim. For windows on buildings I use either a black or brown layer set to vivd light blending mode, that all depends on the lighting of the original photo though.

The full size original black and white photo as well as my full size colorization are below. Feel free to share this colorization or leave a comment in the comment section below.
