Grace Kelly and a Kitten Colorized
A former model and stage actress from a wealthy Philadelphia family, Grace Kelly was an american film actress who came to film prominence with “High Noon” (1952) and her Oscar-nominated supporting role in “Mogambo” (1953) alongside Clark Gable. Grace Kelly went on to star in three consecutive Hitchcock films, “To Catch a Thief” (1955), “Dial M for Murder” (1953) and my personal favorite “Rear Window” (1954) in which she won an Oscar for.
While filming “Dial M for Murder” on the French Riviera she met and married Prince Rainier of Monaco in a large and lavish fairytale wedding, making her the Princess Grace of Monaco. Grace retained her American roots and maintained her dual U.S. and Monegasque citizenship and had three children with Prince Ranier ; Caroline, Albert, and Stephanie.
Grace Kelly retired from acting after finishing up the film “The Swan” but continued to serve on the board of directors of 20th Century-Fox until 1981. Sadly, Grace Kelly died on September 14, 1982, after suffering a stroke the previous day which caused her to lose control of her automobile and crash. Her daughter, Princess Stephanie, was in the car with her and survived the accident.
The colorization of this photo took a bit longer than expected. Grace Kelly is known for her platinum blonde or strawberry blonde hair, but the shade of her hair in the black and white photo seemed too dark. This was most likely due to the lighting, but nonetheless made it a bit more difficult to attain a good blonde color that seemed accurate and not flat. I have never colorized a cat before so there was a good bit of research on feline eye color that was necessary as well.
The full size original black and white photo is below as well as my full size colorization. Feel free to share this colorization on your social network of choice or leave a comment or question in the comment section below.
