Inupiat Family, 1929

Colorization of Inupiat Family from Noatak, Alaska, 1929

This photo of a Inupiat family was taken in Noatak, Alaska circa 1929, by Ernest S.Curtis and comes from the Library of Congress.  I had nearly completed colorizing this photo and somehow accidentally flattened the image before doing some detail work. This caused me to lose all of the adjustment layers and I basically had to start from scratch. Lesson learned, I will be making backup saves of my work in progress from now on.

The furs in this photo took quite  awhile to colorize and I ended up using about 25 layers per individual fur coat. Below is my full size colorization as well as the black and white original.

All photo colorization found within Metacolor is completed by hand using a Wacom Graphic Tablet and Adobe Photoshop CC software. All website design, writing and photo colorization/restoration found within is the sole work of Wayne Degan.
