Restoration and colorization of young Lucille Ball

The legendary Lucille Ball (August 6, 1911 – April 26, 1989) pictured here at the age of eighteen, was an American actress, comedienne, model and also a film studio executive. There is very little doubt that Lucille Ball was a remarkable woman and she paved the way and inspired many female actresses and comediennes who followed years later.

Lucille was 40 years old and a struggling B list actress when she began “I Love Lucy” which showcased her quirky comedy and showcased her slapstick humor. She was the first pregnant woman to be seen on television as well as the first interracial couple to be seen on television, despite the producers of the shows disapproval.

Lucy was the first woman to run a television studio, which she named “Desilu productions”. The name was a conglomerate of her first name and her then husband Desi Arnaz. She eventually sold her production company for $17 million in 1967 and the name was changed to Paramount may have heard of them.
