Restoration and Colorization Work for Clients and Family

MetaColor

Most of the colorization work I post here on Metacolor are personal preference photos. The black and white photos I generally use come from  high-res sources and usually require little to no restoration before beginning colorizing and are usually quite large in size, which makes them easier to work with. This is not the case when it comes to client work or fixing up and adding color to photos for family or friends. Time, dirt and the occasional coffee spill have their way with physical photos and more often than not, restoration is the lengthiest part of the process.

Restoration generally involves removing any scratches, dirt, specks as well as adjusting the brightness, contrast, leveling etc.Lighting is the most crucial part for me becasue I am not just having to restore the photo but I also have to add color to the photo. Old black and white photos(especially those taken outdoors) tend to be filled with white light from the flash or the sun and color does not blend well on white, this is why lighting is so crucial in restoration for colorization.

So, here are just a few old black and white photos I have restored and colorized for clients in the past two months.
